Sharif Bey | Domestic: Commoner (2025)

Artist Sharif Bey explores the legacy of labor through his large-scale sculpture “Domestic: Commoner.” Inspired by Congolese “power figures,” Bey reflects on crafting powerful forms that honor his heritage, assert visual authority, and highlight the often-overlooked contributions of those whose efforts made his present possible. Commissioned by the Art Bridges Foundation of Bentonville, Arkansas.

 

Mel Chin | Revisitation (2025)

Conceptual artist Mel Chin explores how revisiting a place can reveal its transformation over time. Inspired by the oil-affected landscape of Bolivar Island in Texas, Chin’s multi-panel, large-scale painting “Revisitation” translates observation and memory into conceptual art, using geometric shapes, depictions of water molecules, and oil paint to capture the evolving environment. Commissioned by the Art Bridges Foundation of Bentonville, Arkansas.

 

William T. Williams | Walter’s Advice (2025)

Artist William T. Williams reflects on the creation of his 1971 painting, “Walter’s Advice.” Created during a transitionary period after completing his studies, the painting was inspired by conversations with playwright, director, and actor Walter Jones. Together, they reflected on their migration from the American South and how those experiences shaped their worldviews and artistic practice. Commissioned by the Art Bridges Foundation of Bentonville, Arkansas.

 

JooYoung Choi | Journey to the Cosmic Womb (2025)

Korean-American artist JooYoung Choi shares how her experience of adoption and consequent navigation of identity inspired her to create imaginative universes in works like “Journey to the Cosmic Womb.” Through painting and collage, Choi uses world building and play to transform memory and longing into vibrant, comic book-inspired storytelling. Commissioned by the Art Bridges Foundation of Bentonville, Arkansas.
